Race Equality Network recently collaborated with West Yorkshire Health & Care Partnership to develop a series of webinars dedicated to supporting working carers from ethnic minority communities that work across the Local Authority, VCSE and Health Care Organisations who are, or have been working carers.
There is evidence that shows that many carers across our workforce face a multitude of challenges of both caring and being from an ethnic background and we want our health and care system to be a supportive environment that understands the needs of our diverse workforce.
We hosted a series of webinars for anyone who is a working carer living or working within our 5 local places including Bradford, Leeds, Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield and is interested in:
Hearing from working carers about their lived experience to inspire others
Understanding the support that is available such as the Message in a Bottle initiative
Learning more about what the Working Carers Passport and how this can benefit you as a working carer.
The webinars took place on the following dates:
13th June – Working Carers (Local Authority), 10am-12pm
15th June – Working Carers (VCSE), 10am-12pm
16th June – Working Carers (NHS / Health Care Organisations), 10am-12pm
This is an exciting opportunity to support real change across our health and care system in ensuring the voices of carers from ethnic minority backgrounds are heard to enable changes as to how we support our working carers from diverse backgrounds. We aim to help others to self-identify as carers and access the right support and create a supportive environment that understands the needs of our diverse workforce.
