REN’s Partnership with Baobab Foundation
The Race Equality Network (REN) is a proud member of the Baobab Foundation, a network of Black and Global Majority community organisations dedicated to addressing racism, poverty, and disadvantage across the UK. The Baobab Foundation was established in response to the ongoing challenges faced by Black and Global Majority communities, catalysed by significant events in 2020, including the murder of George Floyd. The Foundation mobilises resources from trusts, foundations, and private businesses to tackle systemic underfunding and marginalisation.
Community Dialogue Workshop
In our collaborative efforts, REN had the pleasure of supporting Jermain Jackman from the Baobab Foundation in delivering a Community Dialogue workshop for our grassroots member organisations. This workshop provided an invaluable platform for organisations affected by racism and discriminatory practices to articulate their needs and priorities. The feedback and insights gathered were instrumental in ensuring that the new £3 million Baobab Collective Fund is tailored to address the specific funding needs of ethnic minority-led organisations, while also allowing participants to share their ideas and visions for the future.

The Baobab Foundation, with its unique member-led structure, focuses on equity, liberation, and social justice, working tirelessly to dismantle systemic racism and intersectional injustice. REN continues to support and champion these efforts, ensuring that our shared goals of achieving racial justice and inclusivity are realised in every aspect of our service delivery.
