Join us for the launch of the Bosnia to Bradford films, a free event taking place at the National Media Museum with guest speakers on the 1st March at 5:30pm.

As part of the 25th Anniversary of the War in Bosnia, a series of six short films were created speaking to people who were displaced by the war and have now settled in Bradford and surrounding areas. The films have explored what it was like for the people who found themselves making a new life in the UK after fleeing genocide.

The films were made as part of the 25th Anniversary of Remembering Srebrenica and were first shown during last year’s annual event in Bradford where Civic leaders, faith representatives, community groups and schools from across West Yorkshire came together to mark the anniversary and to make a pledge to renew our efforts to tackle hatred and prejudice.

The films are made to be educational tools and the launch event will be on the 1st March 2022 at the National Media Museum, Bradford, the event will also host a range of speakers from the Bosnian Community and senior council figures from the Bradford district.

Some of the questions participants were asked:

·         Do you remember the date when you arrived in Bradford?

·         What were your first impressions of the city?

·         Have you ever heard of Bradford before arriving here?

·         What possessions did you have with you?

·         How do you start to rebuild your life in another country?

·         Did you manage to maintain contact with friends and family?

·         What do you do now in Bradford? Do you feel at home here?

·         Do you return to your home city/country on a regular basis? Have you ever been back home?

·         What do you like best about Bradford?

Please have a look on the Eventbrite page here for further information about the event and to register your attendance.
